Roger and his aorta : The aorta takes oxygenated blood and moves it to all parts of the body. My aorta seemed to work just fine up until 1998 when, at the age of 61, I suffered an acute aortic dissection and failure of the heart's aortic valve. Dissection means the inner wall separates from the outer wall. Some of the blood then flows between the inner and outer walls. My dissection began at the heart and traveled all the way to my groin. Emergency surgery replaced the aortic valve that had been damaged in the dissection. A short length of the ascending aorta was also replaced with a dacron tube. I was very lucky to survive this incident. In 2005 a CT scan showed a dangerously large aneurysm in the arch area. In a 12 hour operation, this aortic section was replaced with another dacron tube. In January 2007, the descending thoracic aorta was replaced, once again with a dacron tube. I now have about two feet of dacron tubing inside me. In my case, it's better than the original equipment.

Yosemite Valley 2006 : In June we travelled up the east side of the Sierras to Yosemite Valley. The Tioga Pass was still blocked with snow so we went futher north to the 9,500 foot Sonora Pass to get to the Valley. This spring the melt from the much more than normal snowfall created huge waterfalls and flooding in the lower regions of the valley (take your mosquito repellant).

It features a variety of beautifully restored classic cars with special emphasis on Auburns, Cords and Duesenbergs. Auburns and Cords were built here in Auburn, Indiana. William Brinton 1704 House : The William Brinton 1704 House is a restored historic Quaker home which is owned, maintained, and operated as a museum by the Brinton Association of America. It is located just off of U.S. Route 202, south of West Chester, Pennsylvania. This stone house was built and originally occupied in 1704 by William Brinton Jr. It is furnished authentically and boasts many interesting features, such as leaded casement windows, an indoor bake oven, and a colonial herb garden. The William Brinton 1704 House and Historic Site was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1968. Tours are available to the public daily, May through October. These photos were taken in the summer of 2004 - the 300th anniversary of the house being built and family reunion. Additional information is at http://www.brintonfamily.org/.
